Will Kingsgrove Graysland lose it’s green spaces?

DOES THE COUNCIL PLAN FOR KINGSGROVE GRAYSLAND TO LOSE IT’S GREEN SPACES?

KGRG-Newsletter-22-02-1-1100x1163

Residents have expressed their fears that the main green space in the center of the estate is only designated as ‘Amenity Green Space’. This does not protect it from being used to build more housing in accordance with government guidelines.

Perhaps more worryingly the two other green areas are not listed as open spaces of any kind by the council, which may suggest that the council intends to build on them.

One of these greens is the area between the front row of houses (1 to 7 Graysland) and the Carlow Road, a narrow site possibly sufficient for apartments.

The second area is opposite 90 Kingsgrove, at the back of the estate, which is only a fence away from the new high built, high-density housing estate the council plan for the old GAA pitch at Chanterlands. This land could be added to the new estate.

Another area of concern is where the ‘missing houses’ (numbers 97 & 98 Kingsgrove) leave a gap in the last cul-de-sac which could provide road access to the new estate planned on the site at Chanterlands.

Finally if the council, or a developer, was to acquire the large detached house on the Carlow Road between Oak Lawn and Graysland they really could pack in the high-density apartments.
